Hopewell Theater is a member of the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) and proudly supports its efforts to keep our industry afloat at this time of financial crisis for venues. NIVA has been lobbying the federal government to pass the Save Our Stages Act, which provides support for independent live music venues that have lost nearly 100% of their revenue since the pandemic began in March, yet still have enormous bills due. The U.S. Government has stalled on passing any economic relief plan for our country, specifically the Heroes Act of which the SOS Act is a part.
Meanwhile, NIVA is taking action to raise economic relief funds for venues with events like Save Our Stages Fest, a 3-day virtual music festival to #SaveOurStages, streamed in partnership with YouTube. #SOSFEST will stream live from 25 independent venues across the country on NIVA’s official YouTube Channel Friday through Sunday, October 16-18.
#SOSFEST will feature all new, original performances from your favorite artists like Foo Fighters, Miley Cyrus, The Lumineers, The Roots, Marshmello, Demi Lovato, Rise Against, Dave Matthews, Monica, Reba McEntire, Major Lazer, Leon Bridges, and many more – see the lineup of performers here. This benefit event, hosted by Reggie Watts, aims to generate significant awareness, advocacy, and donations for the NIVA Emergency Relief Fund, directly supporting our most vulnerable venues experiencing catastrophic revenue loss.
Across the U.S., indie venues are closing permanently, in dire financial straits after being forced to close for public safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. NIVA’s efforts to raise funds to keep our industry alive will help.
