On Our Screen and Stage – Week of May 6, 2019

On our stage this week at Hopewell Theater, the historic Bread and Puppet Theater will present their new play, Diagonal Man: Theory and Praxis, on Thursday. Diagonal Man brings all the bewildering, beguiling, and downright funny possibilities and implications of diagonality to life with song, dance, magic, mechanism, and stunning cardboard and paper maché puppets painted in Peter Schumann’s exuberant, slapdash expressionist style. Friday night, Jazz pianist turned roots musician, Sam Reider stops by with his “staggeringly virtuosic band” of young acoustic musicians called The Human Hands. Irresistible melodies, fiery improvisation and otherworldly sounds will collide! On Sunday, Mother’s Day, join us for a delicious and entertaining Mother’s Day brunch with a performance by O’Neill and Martin. Enjoy a sumptuous buffet with an array of delectable food items while listening to the uplifting tunes! Moms will receive a rose! Later that day, The Felice Brothers will perform songs off of their critically acclaimed new album, Undress. Johnathan Rice opens and XPN welcomes the show. On our screen, the slow-burning spy drama RED JOAN opens. More info and tickets can be found here.
