This week at Hopewell Theater, Thursday night don your best Bowie look and get ready to party at HT’s Bowie Ball! Dance the night away with friends to the greatest hits of the 70s and 80s, belt your heart out at karaoke from 8 to 9 pm – Bowie songs highly encouraged – and enjoy delicious passed hors d’oeuvres. Take home some memories of the evening at our photo booth, complete with Bowie inspired props. Costumed patrons will be entered into a costume contest, with the winner taking home a Dual Membership to Hopewell Theater, a $90 value. Saturday night, see singer-songwriter Sloan Wainwright, who consistently demonstrates a command of a variety of American musical styles – pop, folk, jazz, and blues. On our screen, see the beautiful ballet interpretation of Romeo & Juliet on the big screen. Then, a wistful odyssey populated by skaters, squatters, street preachers, playwrights, and other locals on the margins, The Last Black Man in San Francisco is a poignant and sweeping story of hometowns and how they’re made—and kept alive—by the people who love them.
