Get ready for the spooky stories lined up for this year’s Halloween Fright Fest at Hopewell Theater. Screening from October 24th to October 31st, these classic horrors will put you in the Halloween spirit. Come in costume and “trick or treat” at the theater to get a free movie ticket valid through December 1!

On Thursday, October 24th, the frights begin with RE-ANIMATOR, a Lovecraft-inspired tale of a scientist who discovers how to bring back the dead. On Friday, October 25th, we experience the bizarre but unique, sci-fi fantasy DONNIE DARKO, in which a teenager hallucinates a six-foot rabbit demon telling him the world will soon end.

Our friends at The Peasant Grill will be supplying a special dinner of a GHOUL-lash over Egg Noodles for the screenings of Re-Animator and Donnie Darko. Select the dinner option at checkout to make the night complete.

On Saturday, October 26th, bring the kids and grandkids to see CASPER, a family-friendly Halloween tale of a kind ghost boy meeting and making friends with some of the living, who try to communicate with him and his troublemaking ghostly uncles.

On Sunday, October 27th, meet the dashing, mysterious Count Dracula and the vampire hunter Van Helsing in the iconic, 1931 film DRACULA. Inspired by Bram Stoker’s book of the same name, Dracula delivers powerful performances in an artistically eerie atmosphere.

On Tuesday, October 29th, dive into the foreign film THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE, a mystery thriller about a writer who witnesses an unsuccessful murder and finds himself in a police investigation and in the sights of a serial killer. With stylized violence and a deadly thriller plot, this film was a huge box office hit.

Then, on Wednesday, October 30th, zombies rise in the cult classic, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. This indie horror was such a culturally treasured film that it was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry! It stunned audiences with its grisly nature but went on to become critically acclaimed. It was also one of the first films to have a black man in a lead role regardless of, rather than because of, his race.

Finally, the grand finale of this year’s Fright Fest, Alfred Hitchcock’s PSYCHO screens on Thursday, October 31st. Nominated for Academy Awards and praised as a major work of cinematic art, this psychological horror is one of the earliest examples of the slasher genre.

Experience the tale of the Bates Motel and many more to finish October in the true, spooky essence of Halloween. Get tickets and learn more about the films here. Don’t forget to come “trick or treat” with us on Halloween to get a free movie ticket!
